2016 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L AWD
Mitsubishi comes up with seven seater Outlander update for 2016 which remains non impressive, more delay to plugin hybrid version. Outlander 2016 version is pretty much same as 2015 model, 2016 version got few hundred bucks cheaper, comes with chassis refinements, revisions in plastic used inside cabin. 2016 version equipped with 2.4 liter four cylinder 166 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque with continuously variable automatic transmission. We test all wheel driver system with four settings for front limited slip differential, brake regulates front axle torque split. Being weighed 3668 pounds consumes 9.3 seconds to reach 60 mph from zero. 18 inch Toyo A24 all season tires finds 180 feet to stop from 70 mph, numbers keeps Outlander in lower ranks over competitors. EPA combined remain 26 mpg is decent enough.

Lot more body motion found during corners with suspension behaving inefficiently, electrically assisted steering seems lifeless. CVT do not provide any manual operation ability, making engine revs rise and fall out of sync with vehicle's forward motion. S mode do not provide any significant change in performance even with throttle input, while Eco mode makes throttle response lazy resisting acceleration. Outlander with three row seats stand out in compact class, cabin is narrow with limited headroom, second row comes with 60/40 split-fold ratio providing larger floor area, there is no recline feature. NO HVAC or power outlet for rear seats.

Interior comes gets more pleasant with use of nicer fabrics and plastics, very less noise inside. Driver seat is comfortable and expect to have easier access to essential controls from telescoping steering column. 6.1 inch touchscreen at center display. ES modes starts at $23,890 while SEL S-AWC comes at $27,890 with leather seat eight way power driver's adjustment, USB port, 12 volt outlets, heated exterior mirrors, hands free connectivity with steering wheel controls, a rearview camera and airbags. Add ons as 710 watt Rockford Fosgate audio system, satellite radio, adaptive cruise controls, lane departure warning, power liftgate and sunroof, rain sensing wipers, navigation system.

Apart from price factors 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has no other plus points over competitors.
