Best thing about 2016 Honda Pilot is EPA hitting 22 mpg combined rating. Enough room in second row and foldback for third row access with push button available in either side of third row. But third row comes with little space which is nearly a complaint coming in all type of three row crossovers. Cubic storage with third row raised is 16 cubic feet while Odyssey provides 38 cubic feet for cargo space.
Lazy adaptive cruise control not able to smoothen speed while throttle input, there is facility to turn off adaptive cruise control. Auto start stop system works with hiccup where it shuts down automatically when sitting idle for long time or while parking.
2016 Honda Pilot equipped with SOHC 24 value V-6 uses direct fuel injection system and produces 280 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque at 4700 rpm pairing with nine speed automatic transmission. Michigan summer tires provides better grip to ground and being weighed 4351 pounds it consumes 172 feet to stop from 70 mph. While it clocks 6 odd seconds to touch 60 mph from standstill. Infotainment system do not operate effortlessly and navigation system requires an updation to get it work correctly. There are many cubbies available inside with enough seat space except in third row. Pilot center console seems too big and deep. 21 mpg remains good for a seven seater. Push button shifter is consuming lot more space, with lot more buttons of different shape and size for controls. Push button for neutral, park and drive, while for reverse need to tug on a switch. Body roll and control motion is good enough at highway and while tight cornering.
We expect technology enhancement and resolvement in coming versions.
