2014 F-Type model introduced is first real sports car by Jaguar, available in convertible, coupe and hatchback editions. F-Type comes with excessive strongness due to aluminum chassis. Available in two engine options as 3 liter V-6 and 5 liter V-8 both supercharged, paired with eight speed automatic transmission as optional in V-6 while standard for V-8. All wheel drive remains standard in V-8 while available for higher trims in V-6. Combination of firm suspension tuning, powertrain, aluminum chassis and competitive price makes F-Type best in class.
Price of base F-Types gets lower by $3200 at $62,395, have to pay more $5400 more for premium. V-8 F-Type R is to cost $126,945.
F-Type 3.0 liter V-6 supercharged is able to produce 340 and 380 horsepower and 332 and 339 lb-ft or torque, while 5.0 liter V-8 produces
550 or 575 horsepower and 502 or 536 lb-ft of torque. It is expected that 2017 Jaguar F-Type V-8 is to have top speed of 200 mph. Luggage space in convertible will be seven cubic feet.
Steering is agile and very communicative, grip is firm and braking is exceptional. In eight speed acceleration is best while six speed manual acceleration remains smooth. Noise cancellation is good until full power and exhaust comes into play. Coupe backlight looks vast outside, rear view visibility shrinks due to rear spoiler, weighs more due to aluminum. Stiff ride is experienced while cornering and hard bumpy roads.
Above all F-Type being quick, precise and smart looking remains a better choice overall.
