Surprisingly, 2016 Toyota Sequoia has same 5.7 liter V-8 with 381 hp which was available in 2008 version, no more to say as it works similarly as in 2008, now weighing 6088 pounds adding 12 pounds more, takes 6.7 seconds for 60 mph. more addition to pounds took eight more feet to stop from 70 mph i.e. 192 ft instead 184. Drivers confidence gets low with mild brake fading. Sequoia looks big but structure do shakes over large bumps, driver seat is high enough for better viewing. Engine gets poor as approaching red line, overall engine is quiet strong.
Apart from price there is no other improvement, base price is now $65,715 in 2008 was $56,285. Standard includes flip down entertainment system, 9 inch screen for rear seat, backup camera, laser based adaptive cruise control. Rear wheel drive system comes in $46,320 price SRS model which have third and second row retractable sunshades, navigation, USB ports, skid plates, windshield wiper, running boards. Features which got removed in this version are LED running lamps or taillamps, proximity key for passive entry.
Spacious first and second row having ample leg and head room. Soft touch interior with stitched dashboard, panel of Tupperware grade plastic comes in premium version. All seats except drivers gets fold fully and well, power folding third seats, second console do get fold. You get 120 cubic feet of space if second and third row folds, which is more than Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition with shorter wheelbase.
Unless you look for more space there is not other point going for Sequoia over Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition.
