Volvo Polestar is company inhouse performance division, surprisingly comes with turbo, supercharged four cylinder insteas of six. Earlier version had 3.0 liter inline six cylinder. With bigger turbo Polestar is able to produce 362 hp at 6000 rpm, 347 lb-ft of torque which is less to previous six cylinder version. Compensating with eight speed automatic compare to earlier six speed transmission.
Takes 4.5 seconds for 60 mph which is 0.3 seconds quicker to 2015 version. Wagon is to weigh less than 2015 wagon but more 100 pounds than sedan. EPA expected to show improvement with 20 and 28 mpg in city and highway. In Sport mode Polestar delivers quick responses with 7000 rpm redline, for sure automatic provides confidence to put paddle down. With all wheel drive more torque is made available to rear wheels. Firm and predictable cornering is possible due to revised and firmer suspension, stability control is kept off in this version.
Polestar includes safety add ons as City Safety and BLIS shows blinks warning to make short stop of a collision possible upto 31 mph, blind monitoring system, cross traffic alert, park assist, navigation system. 60 mph in 4.6 seconds is very good. Sunroof will remain optional in new Polestar. Available in blue racing color, white, black and silver colors.
Considering V60 we expect company to work on new V90 as well.
